Apple has made a bizarre update to the specification of the M2 iPad Air. Although claiming the iPad Air’s M2 chip will feature a 10-core GPU, now Apple says it features a 9-core GPU.
Apple has yet to embellish the changes. Nonetheless, they updated the tech specs page for the new M2 iPad Air and it’s missing the GPU core details. Archive data shows new changes have occurred in the last 10 days.
According to the original press release the M2 iPad Air features a 10-core GPU, and it is yet to be updated on Apple’s support website also, as per the report Apple has yet not updated its tech specs details in countries outside of the USA. This is an absurd change for numerous reasons. It seems that due to an internal communication breakdown, certain individuals were misled into thinking that the new M2 iPad Air had a 10-core GPU while, in fact, it features a 9-core. The fact that the update is yet not reflected on the support site.
Initially, Apple offered an M2 processor with a 9-core GPU for any gadget. For example, M2 MacBook Air comes with an 8-core and 10-core GPU. It refers to the M2 processor used inside the iPad Air as a crib version of the 10-core version.
Certainly, most M2 iPad Air users are likely to notice the difference between 9-core and 10-core GPU. It will be great to get an explanation from Apple on a specific version of events in this case.
